Congratulations to
Fran Hurcomb
2006 DIAVIK 150 Photo Contest
GRAND PRIZE WINNER

WINNING PHOTO CAPTURES KEY MOMENT • There was more than just the excitement of a shotgun start that made this photo by Fran Hurcomb worthy of a $1,000 diamond. This image captures a key moment on the final day of the race, as Richard Beck (bib #5) and Sam Perrino (yellow hood) continued their intense battle for second place and hoped to challenge overall leader Lloyd Gilbertson (approaching on the right) for the national championship. The dogs, crowd, mushers and cityscape set the stage for a fantastic race and a fantastic photo. Mushers John Beck, Brent Beck (sporting a purple dress and pink scarf) and Trevor Lizotte make the image complete.

Congratulations to Fran, a Yellowknife resident, and thank you to everyone who participated! There were over 150 photos submitted in the 1st annual contest, with outstanding images from every corner of the exciting new trail! We're assembling a collection of the best shots to appear on this page later this week, so stay tuned. And remember to get your camera ready for next year's event, March 23-25 in Yellowknife, the Diamond Capital of North America!
